If there are ten of you reading this, nine probably won’t survive the next few years.
One of you will escape, and live. Which one of you will it be?
A friend of ours told us an innocent annecdote recently which gains a chilling angle in the light of current events. They described conversations among elderly Jewish Americans turning inevitably to the subject of how their families escaped the Holocaust. The answer was invariably by getting out of Germany or a country occupied by Hitler early, before it all happened, because the majority who left it too late perished.
You don’t need us to tell you that the situation in America and increasingly in some other countries is turning from merely the right wing being in the ascendency, to outright fascism. With proto-concentration camps being erected on former military bases, masked agents pulling people off the streets, the military deployed to America’s cities, and now talk of restricting trans Americans’ Constitutional rights by denying them access to weapons, what we’ve been warning about for the last few years is happening before our eyes. If or how you leave is up to you, but thinking of those Jewish American families, perhaps the question of when you leave is answering itself. Being one of the people who leaves early, and survives, is now imperative.
