If you are in a place where being LGBTQ+ puts you at serious risk, we may be able to help you relocate to a safer country.
We work with people facing threats such as violence, arrest, or severe persecution. When someone contacts us, it is often because staying is no longer safe.
We help people reach safety.
We do not just give advice—we help people get out.
Who This Is For
This support is for people in high-risk environments, including countries where:
- Being LGBTQ+ is criminalised
- Violence against LGBTQ+ people is common
- Authorities or communities pose a direct threat
If your situation is urgent or life-threatening, you may qualify for direct support.
If you just need help to the next town, but you need it tonight – for example, if you have just escaped from controlling parents or the police are searching for you right now, you need Rapid Response.
What We Do
We coordinate safe, legal relocation to a safer place. This may include:
- Planning a safe route out of your country
- Travel coordination (flights, transit, timing)
- Guidance through border and immigration processes
- Short-term support during relocation
We operate within the law.
We do not use smuggling or false documents.
What You Need to Know
1. We prioritise the most urgent cases
We receive far more requests than we can support. People in the most dangerous situations are prioritised.
2. Funding affects how quickly we can help
We are a volunteer-run organisation with limited resources.
If we need to fund your relocation, the wait time can be long.
If you can support your own travel and initial living costs, we may be able to help you move much faster.
3. This is a serious process
Relocation is complex and sometimes difficult.
You will need to:
- Follow guidance carefully
- Communicate clearly when possible
- Work with us as part of a team
We focus on getting you to safety—not on reaching a specific country or personal preference.
4. We do not charge for help
We never ask for payment from the people we assist. There are scammers who do try to imitate us. If you have doubts who you are talking to, email annie@transrescue.org and say who you are talking to and how (eg “on signal”). Our staff may ask if you have any money – we need to know what resources you have in order to help you – but we will never ask you for money. No one can act as a ‘fixer’ or ‘get you into Trans Rescue’.
Important Limitations
- We cannot support minors (under 18)
- We cannot provide long-term financial support
- We cannot guarantee relocation timelines
- We cannot take every case
We understand this is difficult. We want to help as many people as possible, but our resources are limited.
Not in Immediate Danger?
If you are in a country that is becoming less safe (such as the US or UK), we cannot provide direct relocation.
Instead, we offer:
- Guidance
- Planning support
- Resources to help you relocate independently
→ Visit the Resources page
→ Join Office Hours for advice and support
